TEST GALLERY

The Gallery was created in 1986, as an agency of the Municipal Bureau of Artistic Expositions, and in 2001 was incorporated into the structure of the Mazovia Region Centre of Culture and Arts.

TEST is an innovative gallery, open to different kinds of art. It shows the works of artists known and renowned, as well as young art disciples, for whom such expositions are the first “test” on their artistic path. It mainly showcases the works of artists from Warsaw circles, but there are sometimes works from other parts of Poland and from abroad.

The most frequently presented domain of art is painting. There are also expositions of graphic arts, drawings, tapestries and other forms of visual arts: installations, films, performances, assemblage, and graphic projects.

In TEST Gallery, such renowned artists as the following have presented their work: Józef Szajna – painting, drawings, collage; Janusz Stanny – satirical drawings; Jan Świdziński – contextual art, film; Henryk Chyliński – painting and graphic signs. There has been no shortage of artists from the middle generation, as well as the youngest generation. The Gallery presented an exposition series entitled „The Master and the Student”, among other the paintings of Marian Czapla and Andrzej Rysiński; Krzysztof Wachowiak and Tomasz Milanowski.

The prestigious contest „Warsaw Graphics” is associated with the Gallery. Thanks to this, the TEST Gallery is surrounded by a wide range of artists and authorities in the area of visual arts. The head of the jury is Professor Rafał Strent. In monthly editions of the contest, students of artistic schools as well as masters of graphic arts take part: Ryszard Gieryszewski, Leszek Hołdanowicz, and Ewa Walawska.

The TEST Gallery is an important place for the education of a sensitive young viewer and modern art sympathizer. Apart from meetings on art theory and history, the gallery also organizes art workshops for young people.
